Introduction⌗
The Weltool T1 Pro V2 is a cute little EDC torch! This colourful version has a slightly more elegant look compared to the regular black version.
I like the traditional design. It has a forward-clicky tail switch and plenty of grip.
The smooth reflector and the choice of LED helps make this little torch a powerful pocket thrower. The beam distance is impressive for such a small torch!
If you are looking for one of the best “throwers” then check out my review of the Weltool W4Pro LEP torch. The beam distance can reach more than 3km!
Weltool provided this torch for review. I have not been paid for this review nor have I held back my opinions of this torch.
Packaging⌗
The Weltool T1 Pro V2 comes in a vibrant red Weltool branded box.
The following was included in the box:
- Weltool T1 Pro V2.
- Weltool UB14-09 3.6V Li-ion 14500 900mAh cell with USB-C charging.
- Pocket clip.
- Spare o-ring.
- User manual.
Torch in use⌗
The torch fits perfectly in the palm of my hand.
The first thing that I noticed when I picked up the torch, aside from the purple camouflage, is the texture from knurling on the tail and the slots in the head. The twelves slots (9.5mm * 2.17mm) appear to be for glow sticks or tritium vials.
The tail switch gives a satisfying click.
There is a pocket clip with a slight deep carry design. The clip sits below the tailcap to allow the tailcap to be easily unscrewed.
I noticed a hole in the pocket clip for a lanyard but a lanyard was not included.
The torch cannot tail stand due to the button sticking out at the end.
Build quality⌗
The Weltool T1 Pro V2 Colorful version is made of aluminium and it has been anodised with a purple, green and gold camouflage pattern.
There are no sharp edges. There is plenty of grip.
There is some serious laser etching going on here! The website has been laser etched onto the tailcap in a semi-circle.
The threads came well lubricated. The threads and the inside of the tube have been anodised.
There is a small spring at the head and a larger spring in the tailcap. This allows flat top and button top cells to fit but I do not recommend using an unprotected cell (more on that below)…
The torch appears to have reverse polarity protection. I put an unprotected flat top Vapcell H10 14500 3.7V Li-ion 1000mAh cell in backwards and the torch was ok after I tried to turn it on.
LED, bezel, lens, reflector and beam⌗
The Weltool T1 Pro V2 has an emitter that reminds me of of a Luminus SFT40 except it has a small round yellow phoshor layer instead of a square.
There is a white centering gasket around the emitter with a smooth reflector pressed down against the gasket.
A glass lens with a green anti-reflective coating sits above the reflector. This is held down by a smooth bezel.
CCT, CRI, and duv⌗
I have taken Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT) and Colour Rendering Index (CRI, RA of R1-R8) measurements with the torch positioned one metre away from an Opple Light Master Pro III (G3).
The CCT is around 5700K, the CRI is around 64 and the Delta u, v is positive (green).
The beam produced has an intense white hotspot, a green corona and a wide spill. The beam is very throwy!
I noticed that the hot spot is not perfectly centered inside the corona. The corona is a bit wider on one side. The LED looks like it is perfectly centered when I look at it but it is obviously off by a fraction of a millimeter when I look at the beam on a white wall.
Cell | Mode | CCT (K) | CRI (Ra) | x | y | Duv |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
14500 | Low | 5465 | 63.0 | 0.3335 | 0.3664 | 0.0120 |
14500 | Med | 5766 | 65.2 | 0.3261 | 0.3524 | 0.0085 |

User interface⌗
The Weltool T1 Pro V2 has a forward-clicky tail switch.
There are two main modes: Med and High.
There is a shortcut to Low.
But there is no Strobe.
State | Action | Result |
---|---|---|
Off | Half press | Momentary on (Med) |
Off | Half press within 1 second | Cycle (Med, High) |
Off | Full click | On |
Off | Three half presses and a full click | Low |
On | Click | Off |
Mode memory⌗
There is no mode memory.
You can cycle between Med and High but the torch will revert to Med if you leave it off for more than a second.
Strobe⌗
There is no Strobe mode.
Low voltage protection⌗
The torch does not have low voltage protection.
The included Weltool UB14-09 3.6V Li-ion 14500 900mAh cell has low voltage protection.
I recommend using the included battery.
I do not recommend using an unprotected 14500 Li-ion cell in this torch. The torch drained an unprotected flat top Vapcell H10 14500 cell to 1.18V after 45 minutes on High.
Pulse Width Modulation⌗
I did not notice any visible PWM (flickering).
I measured the PWM of the light with a Zoyi ZT-703S oscilloscope.
14500 cell: Low, Med, High
Ni-MH cell: Low, Med, High
What I like about the UI⌗
- The user interface is simple.
- I like how it defaults to Med instead of having mode memory. I know what mode it is going to be in when I press the button.
What could be improved⌗
- It would be nice if Low is added to the main group and if the torch defaulted to Low instead of Med. Then I could simply cycle between Low, Med and High. The four click shortcut for Low results in me manually making the torch strobe between Med and High, ruining my night vision.
- Strobe would be nice to have but I do not personally need Strobe for an EDC torch.
Batteries and charging⌗
Battery⌗
A button top Weltool UB14-09 3.6V Li-ion 14500 900mAh cell with USB-C charging was included inside the torch. It arrived with a voltage of 3.83V.
The cell was isolated with a piece of plastic to prevent the torch from accidentally turning on.
I tried the following cells:
Cell | Top | Compatible? | Comment |
---|---|---|---|
Weltool UB14-09 3.6V Li-ion 14500 900mAh | Button | Yes | |
LOOP 14500 Li-ion 920mAh 3.6V USB-C | Button | Yes | |
Vapcell H10 14500 3.7V Li-ion 1000mAh | Button | Yes | |
Vapcell H10 14500 3.7V Li-ion 1000mAh | Flat | Yes | |
eneloop pro AA 1.2V Ni-MH 2450mAh | Button | Yes | |

Charging⌗
Power supply: PinePower Desktop USB-C
USB Meter: AVHzY CT-3
Room temperature: 15 C
I charged the included battery from 3.09V to 4.14V using the battery’s USB-C port.
It took about 2 hours 23 minutes to fully charge at a rate of 5V 0.4A.
The indicator LED near the button top went red while charging and it went blue when charging was complete.

H10 | High 3 | 2.34 A | 550 | 589 | 506 | 428 |
There are no High 1, High 2 and High 3 modes. I simply repeated the runtime test for High three times.
Standby drain⌗
There is no standby drain from the torch. The torch has a forward-clicky tailswitch so the battery is disconnected when the switch is off.
Runtime graphs⌗
I used my own DIY lumen tube with a TSL2591 sensor and forked bmengineer’s project RuTiTe to record runtimes.
Note: Lumen measurements may be off by 10% with my DIY lumen tube.
The room temperature was approximately 10 C.
Runtime⌗
Here is a summary of the runtime results:
Cell | Mode | User manual | Runtime | Turn off | Final voltage |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
14500 | High 1 | 36min | 35min 15s | 35min 15s | 3.14 |
14500 | High 2 | 36min | 34min 43s | 34min 43s | 3.18 |
H10 | High 3 | 36min | 35min 58s | 45min+ | 1.18 |
14500 | Med | 1h 31min | 1h 43min 11s | 1h 43min 11s | 3.16 |
14500 | Low | 10h 36min | 11h 32min 37s | 11h 32min 37s | 3.08 |
Ni-MH | High | 1h 13min 46s | 1h 35min 46s | 0.91 | |
Ni-MH | Med | 15h 29min 26s | 15h 29min 26s | 0.97 | |
Ni-MH | Low | 10min+ | 10min+ |
“Runtime” is the time until the output reduces to 10% of the output at 30 seconds (as per the ANSI/PLATO FL1 2019 Standard).
“Turn off” is the time until my DIY lumen tube no longer detects more than one lumen.
“+” indicates that the light remained on after recording had stopped.
I performed three runtime tests for the High mode. Twice using the included protected Weltool UB14-09 14500 cell and once using an unprotected Vapcell H10 14500 cell.
I recommend using a Ni-MH cell so that you can change to the Low mode when the voltage gets low. A protected 14500 cell may cut-off after 35 minutes while using High and leave you stranded in the dark.
The runtime results are pretty close to what Weltool claimed.
The regulation could be improved.
Throw⌗
I took lux measurements with a UNI-T UT383BT at 30 seconds. Each mode was measured at five metres.
Cell | Mode | Specs (cd) | Specs (m) | Candela measured (cd) | Distance (m) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ni-MH | Low | 0 | 0 | ||
Ni-MH | Med | 850 | 58 | ||
Ni-MH | High | 7,625 | 174 | ||
14500 | Low | 1,464 | 76 | 1,225 | 70 |
14500 | Med | 10,720 | 207 | 9,950 | 199 |
14500 | High | 23,500 | 306 | 21,675 | 294 |
Beamshots⌗
I went to a local park and I aimed the torch at a tree 70 metres away while using High.
Beamshots were taken using a Sony RX100M2 using 3.2", f3.2, ISO 100, 5000K WB.

Conclusion⌗
I like the tactical look and feel of Weltool torches.
The Weltool T1 Pro V2 is a perfect size for my EDC. The build quality is good.
The beam distance is impressive for a small light.
But it has a few issue:
- The torch will turn off after 35 minutes on High and it will not turn on again when using the included protected 14500 cell. This could leave you stranded in the dark.
- The torch does not have low voltage protection built in. This means that unprotected 14500 Li-ion cells should not be used even though the dual spring design allows those cells to work.
The workaround for those two issues is to use a 1.2V AA Ni-MH cell instead of the included cell.
Overall, it is a nice throwy EDC torch.
Pros:⌗
- Good build quality.
- Good beam distance.
- Good runtime results.
- Nice beam.
- Simple user interface.
- Forward-clicky tail switch.
- Included 14500 cell has USB-C charging.
Cons:⌗
- The torch will not turn on after 35 minutes on High with the included cell.
- No low voltage protection built into the torch.
- Low CRI.
